Background: GLENDALE, ARIZONA - OCTOBER 13: Maxx Williams #87 of the Arizona Cardinals stretches the ball over the goal line for a touchdown while being tackled by Kemal Ishmael #36 of the Atlanta Falcons during the second half at State Farm Stadium on October 13, 2019 in Glendale, Arizona.
Maxx is back, all right!
Cardinals’ starting TE Maxx Williams has been activated today to the team’s 80 man roster, per multiple reports.
It’s worth noting that Williams earned the highest PFF grade on the Cardinals’ offense last year at 79.1.
Plus, Williams earned the highest run blocking grade (84.7) of any TE in the NFL, per PFF.
HC Kliff Kingsbury was just saying today that, while he will always love “10 personnel”, he maintained that he and the coaches are going to play personnel groups that best fit the Cardinals talent—-just as they did last season.—-which would indicate that Maxx Williams is a key reason why the Cardinals like their 11 and 12 personnel packages.
The Cardinals were excited to sign the 26 year old, 6 year vet to a 2 year extension worth $7M ($3.5M a year).
