Arizona Cardinals backup quarterback situation still unclear

The Arizona Cardinals surprised a lot of people when they signed Chris Streveler of the Canadian Football League this offseason.

That seemed odd with the Arizona Cardinals already having Brett Hundley in tow and his experience with the Cardinals already.

However, if you ask Kliff Kingsbury they haven’t made a decision on the quarterback situation that will backup starter Kyler Murray.

It seems like there being any type of a competition is off, but that just talks about how highly the Cardinals and Kingsbury think of Streveler.

Kingsbury talked about that:

“We are still working through that,” Kingsbury said. “Both guys have had their moments. We want to continue to evaluate through this week and go from there. Both are talented and athletic guys who can come in and allow us to run our offense like we would with Kyler.”

That’s something that I think gets lost on Streveler. He is extremely athletic, he has maybe the best pure arm on the roster, and he has a lot of experience in pro football already. He is going to compete.

However, it felt like that was a year or two away and that it was likely to see Streveler as a quarterback three and filling in a Taysom Hill like role in 2020.

Could Streveler really be the backup in 2020?

Or would the Cardinals and Kingsbury make a mistake moving on too early from Brett Hundley?
