Arizona Cardinals pre-free agency roster breakdown: Quarterbacks

NFL: Arizona Cardinals Red & White Practice Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

We looked last week at the Arizona Cardinals 33 players under contract, and the team has added 20 players on future contracts.

Yet, what areas of the team need improvement and what areas of the team are okay.

Over the next couple of weeks we will take a look at each position group and what they have, what is needed and what are some options.

Let’s start with an easy one and the quarterbacks.

Quarterback Room

Kyler Murray - The unquestioned starter, Murray has an Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowl honors under his belt in his first two seasons. Has two years remaining on his rookie contract, along with the teams fifth year option which they likley will not use as they should extend him before it gets there.

Chris Streveler - Streveler was... average in his one look in 2020. He had one terrible play, but he thought he had a free play that never came to fruition. Knowing how good the Rams defense is and what they did to Russell Wilson, his play can be understood a bit better. Streveler is under contract the next two seasons at a low salary. I don’t see him going anywhere.

Can they improve? I mean, is Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen or Deshaun Watson walking through that door? If not, then Murray is everything you want in a young signal caller.

A veteran backup like Brett Hundley could make sense as the cost of the room is cheap right now, but I don’t see a need... Do you?
