Jefferson has been an assistant coach in the NFL for a long time after a long NFL career that included stints with the Chargers, Patriots, Falcons and Lions. Then starting as an offensive assistant coach with the Detroit Lions in 2006 and was promoted to assistant wide receivers coach in 2007.
Then from 2008-2012 he was the Lions wide receivers coach.
He then was the Tennessee Titans wide receivers coach from 2013-2015.
From 2016-2018 he was the Miami Dolphins wide receivers coach before following Adam Gase to New York and was the wide receivers coach, and the assistant head coach on offense.
Jefferson was on the Miami Dolphins staff with Vance Joseph, so he won’t be completely new to the staff.
He will also coach against his son Van Jefferson of the Los Angeles Rams two times a season.
Congratulations and welcome to the desert, Coach Jefferson.
