The Alabama Crimson Tide may be the best team in college football, it sure looked like it during their Friday Night victory over Notre Dame.
Five players on Alabama’s team could warrant consideration for the Arizona Cardinals in the first round and four were on display.
How did they look?
DeVonta Smith, WR - Maybe the best player in college football in 2020, Smith continued to dazzle, with seven catches for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Smith is one of the smoothest wide receivers in recent memory and the likelihood he falls to the Cardinals picking 17th or later seems like a stretch, but if his weight is a concern for some teams, maybe he could be there. Smith was the Offensive MVP of the Rose Bowl.
Najee Harris, WR - The big running back reminds me of Le’Veon Bell in his prime. He is a smooth runner, with patience and explosiveness, but has the hands of a receiver. He finished the semifinal with 15 carries for 125 yards and four catches for 30 yards.
Patrick Surtain II, CB - The best corner in college football rarely gets tested, but he is physical and can tackle at the point of attack. He would be a huge upgrade, but like Smith may not be available. Surtain was the Defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl.
Christian Barmore, DT - A mountain of a man at 6-5 310lbs, Barmore offers a physical presence inside and has shown improvement as a redshirt sophomore as a pass rusher already. He would give the Cardinals quite the pairing with Jordan Phillips on the interior. Barmore had five tackles in the game, including a sack and tackle for loss. He’s a big man.
