The NFL GM season is over and all the vacancies are filled.
Let’s take a quick look at the list of names.
Atlanta Falcons - Terry Fontenot
Carolina Panthers - Scott Fitterer
Denver Broncos - George Paton
Detroit Lions - Brad Holmes
Houston Texans - Nick Caserio
Jacksonville Jaguars - Trent Baalke
Washington Football Team - Martin Mayhew
When you look at the names, a lot of young talent and a little bit of retreads. Mayhew and Baalke were both GM’s, and both are going to organizations more as figure heads than what seems like decision makers as Ron Rivera in Washington and Urban Meyer in Jacksonville will likely have a lot of say in personnel.
Fontenot was the Director of College Scouting for the New Orleans Saints and has had a nice run there.
Fitterer was co-GM in Seattle with John Schneider. It is going to be a huge change for the Panthers as their old GM was a big time old school football guy.
Paton was part of the Minnesota Vikings organization as director of player personnel and assistant general manager over the last 14 years.
Holmes was the Director of College Scouting for the Los Angeles Rams, he has done a great job forming that organization.
Caserio has been the Patriots director of player personnel since 2008. It’ll be interesting to see him without Bill Belichick.
Who do you like the most?
