During their NFC west divisional showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, tight end Maxx Williams suffered a significant knee injury. Williams was carted off the field and ruled out fairly quickly.
Per NFL Network insider, Ian Rapoport, the Arizona Cardinals fear Maxx Williams will be lost for the season.
#AZCardinals TE Maxx Williams is feared to have suffered a major, season-ending knee injury on Sunday, source said. Williams, who has emerged as an important target for QB Kyler Murray, took a hard shot to his right knee and was quickly ruled out.

Currently behind Williams on the depth chart are veterans, Demetrius Harris and Darell Daniels. Also, Ross Travis is on the roster. Needless to say, the options are not the greatest. This is a huge blow to this Cardinals offense. Williams became a reliable safety blanket between the numbers and underneath for Kyler Murray.
If Kliff Kingsbury decides to roll with the current options on the roster, who will step up to fill Williams receiving production? May this open more opportunities for Rondale Moore? It is possible.
Is there a tight end worth requesting in a trade? The Buccaneers O.J. Howard is a free agent after the season. Could a late round pick pry him from the reigning champs? It is a possibility.
Losing Williams is a blow to this growing offense. It is not a crippling blow, but one that deserves to be addressed.
