With the 2020 NFL season officially behind us we can get hot and heavy into the 2021 offseason.
That means a new slew of mock drafts and the big names are even getting involved.
Todd McShay kept it going today with his second mock draft of the 2021 NFL Draft season.
Check it out from E$PN:
Gregory Rousseau, DE/OLB, Miami (FL)
Finally, an edge rusher. The last time it took this long to see one drafted was 2004, when Will Smith went to the Saints at No. 18. But you won’t hear any complaints from the Cardinals, who can jump on an opportunity to slide in a difference-maker opposite Chandler Jones (who is a free agent after next season). The Cardinals were tied for fourth in sacks this season (48), but 12.5 of those came from Haason Reddick, who is hitting the open market this spring. Rousseau opted out in 2020 but trailed only Chase Young in sacks in the FBS the season prior with 15.5.
Rousseau would no doubt be a fit in Arizona as the Cardinals only have Chandler Jones and Devon Kennard coming back right now.
So, until the Cardinals make moves, edge rusher is an absolute need.
The question becomes is Rousseau a fit if they extend Jones and re-sign Reddick?
Pass rushers are invaluable and if you have two you still need more. However, can the Cardinals afford to pass on other positions?
That will be the question moving forward.
