With the dates for the franchise tag coming up Pro Football Focus suggested a player each team should look at franchise tagging this season.
It is no surprise they recommended Haason Reddick for the Arizona Cardinals.
From PFF:
ARIZONA CARDINALS: EDGE/LB HAASON REDDICK
2020 overall grade: 72.8
Projected franchise tag number: $14.630M
Reddick’s explosion at the end of the season is exactly the type of situation the franchise tag mechanism was designed for (at least in theory), as the Cardinals now would presumably like to see another full season of Reddick playing on the edge. The former off-ball linebacker made the switch for the 2020 season, and once he settled into his new role, he exploded down the stretch.
Reddick is young, he is coming off a big season and one thing we have seen in his four seasons with the Cardinals is he an incredibly hard worker. He never stopped trying to breakthrough and though it took a little longer than wanted, he made it for the Cardinals.
I’ve said the team needs to find a way to make this happen, as I think a franchise tag with the lingering questions on Chandler Jones makes the most sense.
While it will take some creativity with the salary cap, that is what a good GM does, can Steve Keim find a way to make it happen?
