Sometimes during the mock draft season we see things we thjnk are improbable.
However, every year in the draft teams do weird things.
A lot of internet pundits had Isaiah Simmons as a top five player last year, but the reality was that most teams don’t see value at inside linebackers in the top ten of the NFL Draft.
That’s why when Bucky Brooks dropped his first mock draft of the 2021 NFL Draft season it seems unlikely for the Cardinals.
DeVonta Smith · WR
School: Alabama | Year: Senior
Larry Fitzgerald has not made any announcement of his plans for 2021 as of this writing. However, with the 37-year-old either at or near the end of his illustrious career, the Cards decide to grab a polished pass catcher to play opposite DeAndre Hopkins in this scenario.
Smith was the clear best player in college football in 2020 and cemented if with one of the greatest performances we have seen in the National Title game.
And he only played one half.
Smith has one big question mark and that is his size. He is thin, like there are questions if he will get to 180 pounds at the weigh-in, but he is smooth, he has great hands and he is dynamic when the ball is in his hands.
He has a lot of Reggie Wayne in him.
That could really help Kyler Murray, so if this was to happen, the Cardinals would be incredibly fortunate.
