Steve Keim continues to make additions upfront for the Arizona Cardinals.
Following last week’s trade for Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson, the team announced Monday morning they have added veteran guard Brian Winters.
Winters, a former third round pick of the Jets back in 2013, started nine games for the Buffalo Bills a season ago. Winters was added by the eventual AFC East Champions last August and posted a Pro Football Focus grade of 54.6.
In addition to this move, the Cardinals have also brought back veteran guard Max Garcia who was active for 14 games a season ago.
Both of these moves figure to be for depth purposes, perhaps if the Cardinals opt to start to two younger players at guard in Justin Murray and Josh Jones.
It’s also worth mentioning that veteran Justin Pugh has an $11 million dollar cap hit while a post June 1 release would save the team over $9 million dollars.
The contract details for both Winters and Garcia are unknown at this time but figure to be close to the league minimum.
Pro Football Focus Grades for Winters in his career:
2013 - 59.6
2014 - 55.8
2015 - 68.7
2016 - 70.5
2017 - 56.6
2018 - 65.9
2019 - 62.4
2020 - 54.6
