2021 NFL Draft: Arizona Cardinals get cornerback in Mel Kiper Jr’s. Mock Draft 3.0

NCAA Football: South Carolina at North Carolina Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

As the 2021 offseason continues on, we have seen a number of mock drafts for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Roughly 80% of those drafts had the Arizona Cardinals selecting a cornerback in the first round.

After the first week of free agency, that will likely rise.

With Kyle Pitts being the only tight end talked about as a first round prospect and the general feeling of apathy for drafting running backs in the first round, the only glaring need for the Arizona Cardinals left is cornerback.

Mel Kiper Jr. dropped his Mock Draft 3.0 on Tuesday and he too has the Cardinals taking a cornerback.

From E$PN:

16. Arizona Cardinals
Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

With potential future Hall of Famer Patrick Peterson gone to Minnesota in free agency, cornerback is a clear need for the Cardinals. Horn had just two interceptions in three college seasons, but he locked down wideouts, and he would be a Day 1 starter for this team. I also thought about pass-rusher -- Arizona added J.J. Watt to play with Chandler Jones, but they're both over 30 and have had injury issues -- and wide receiver. A.J. Green is not a long-term solution.

Horn would be a nice player to add to the roster and would give the Cardinals a physical and talented cornerback to start rebuilding the room with.

I know some people love Horn, so this pick is fine with who Kiper had left.

Although, as my cornerback evaluations continue, I don't think Horn would be in my top two at the position and Caleb Farley and Patrick Surtain are not one and two.

That's for another day though.
