Sick of countless mock drafts?
Too bad, here’s my final one.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars – Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
No brainer pick here. Rinse and repeat.
2. New York Jets – Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
It what will likely be the toughest situation to overcome, Wilson is thrown to the wolves in the daunting AFC East.
3. San Francisco 49ers – Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
ROTB Pod frequent guest Benjamin Allbright is calling Lance to the 49ers.
That’s good enough for me.
4. Atlanta Falcons – Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
Fowler: Lions tried to trade up for Ja'Marr Chase https://t.co/eLHJTJ0kQt
— NBC Sports EDGE Football (@NBCSEdgeFB) April 28, 2021
There’s a report out that the Falcons have rejected offer(s) from Detroit in an attempt to move up for Ja’Marr Chase. That tells me they want a quarterback at pick four.
5. Cincinnati Bengals – Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
Speaking of Chase, the more I hear, the more it would appear the Bengals are rolling the dice on their pass protection in favor of the uber athletic LSU Tiger.
6. Miami Dolphins – Kyle Pitts, TE, Miami
The Dolphins would consider Penei Sewell if both Pitts and Chase are off the board, but they luck out here with the local product falling to six.
7. Detroit Lions - Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
The Lions could do a number of things but I think they’d be hard press passing on a franchise offensive tackle to pair with Taylor Decker.
8. Carolina Panthers – Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
Repeat pick for me. Slater is the upfront staple the Panthers are seeking in support of Sam Darnold.
9. Denver Broncos – Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
I don’t think the Broncos are particularly well run, as they keep flooding their quarterback room with signal callers with limited ceilings.
10. Dallas Cowboys – Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
I feel good about Horn being the first defensive player drafted on Thursday night.
11. New York Giants – Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan
Word this morning is that Gettleman is suddenly smiting with Paye.
12. Philadelphia Eagles – Patrick Surtain II, CB, Ohio State
It really feels like Dallas may dictate what Philly does at pick 12.
13. Los Angeles Chargers – Alijah Vera-Tucker, OG, USC
This is a team to watch in a potential top 10 trade up should Sewell or Slater begin to slip. Regardless, they need oline help.
14. Minnesota Vikings – Zaven Collins, OLB, Tulsa
The Vikings have quickly lost their identity defensively and receive a shot in the arm with this versatile chess piece of a player.
15. New England Patriots – DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
With word that Atlanta may go QB, I think New England will be forced to stay home at pick 15 and secure a weapon for Cam (or Jimmy G).
16. (TRADE) Baltimore Ravens - Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
The Ravens take a huge swing at securing what they believe is the second best WR in this year’s class. Do not discount their ties to the Alabama program and the fact that they are now equipped with two first round picks.
In the AFC, you have to go for it and the Ravens understand that. As we’ve seen in Arizona, Justin Murray is more than capable of filling in on the right side.
Baltimore receives: Pick 16, 49, OT Justin Murray
Arizona receives: Pick 27, 31, 94, 171
17. Las Vegas Raiders – Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
There are growing questions on Parsons but that doesn’t stop Gruden from rolling the dice. Frankly, he’s too talented not to at pick 17.
18. Miami Dolphins – Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
Doubling down on this pick especially since Miami already secured an elite pass catcher.
19. Washington Football Team – Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU
DItto here as I like Moehrig being groomed by an elite defensive mind in Rivera.
20. Chicago Bears – Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss
Lots of recent talk around Moore being the unquestioned fourth receiver in this year’s class.
21. Indianapolis Colts – Jayson Oweh, DE, Penn State
Quality value for a team that appears loaded but lacks a premier edge rusher.
22. Tennessee Titans – Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
Owusu-Koramoah is one of the fastest risers, especially with injury concerns looming for many other LBs.
23. New York Jets – Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State
Tempted to go with a pass catcher here but people connected to the Jets suggest the team wants to hoard first round tackles.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers – Najee Harris, RB, Alabama
If you do a mock draft, you are contractually obligated to pair Harris with Pittsburgh
25. Jacksonville Jaguars – Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama
I like this value for Jacksonville too much to let Barmore slip to another team and the Jaguars need virtually everything.
26. Cleveland Browns – Azeez Ojulari, DE, Georgia
Sticking with an edge rusher to Cleveland to offset a hefty workload on Myles Garret and Jadeveon Clowney.
27. Arizona Cardinals – Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
Keim and company pass on a chance to draft the undersized (and electric) Jaylen Waddle and instead go for the supremely gifted Bateman in a trade down.
Bateman, at 6’2/210, is the perfect compliment to Hopkins long term on the outside. His size and speed combination has been sorely lacking in this offense.
28. New Orleans Saints – Jaelan Phillips, DE, Miami-FL
Firm stance here that the Saints need to score a stud edge rusher as the division is suddenly stacked with QB talent.
29. Green Bay Packers – Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
The Packers supposedly have their sights set on Bateman but can’t secure a deal. Instead, they pivot to the Toney who may have the biggest upside of any receiver not named Ja’Marr Chase.
30. Buffalo Bills – Greg Newsome, CB, Northwestern
With all the praise given to Buffalo for taking a large leap in 2020, their secondary still left too much to be desired when they faced elite signal callers.
31. Arizona Cardinals – Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
Dream scenario for Arizona as they secure their preferred first round rusher to pair with Rashod Bateman.
It’s a new offensive era in the desert and Kyler Murray is absolutely here for it.
32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Joe Tyron, OLB, Washington
With an embarrassment of riches down in Tampa, the Buccaneers add a fast riser in Tyron for Todd Bowles to groom.
That’s all she wrote for Mock Draft Season.
See you all Thursday night.
