Cardinals Select Zaven Collins 16th Overall

The Arizona Cardinals drafted LB Zaven Collins of Tulsa with the 16th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He bolsters a linebacker room that didn't seem to be on the radar of most people leading up to the draft. Keim and Co. opted not to reach for a Cornerback, or to trade back, and instead take BPA.

Like many of you, my initial reaction was quite shocked. We've been down this road before. We've spent three first-round draft picks in the first round since 2017. Although there is high hope for 2020 first-round draft pick Isaiah Simmons, the Cardinals botched the development of Haason Reddick of the 2017 draft. With that being said, the more I thought about the pick, the more I was intrigued by the pairing of Collins and Simmons. No, it wasn't a need at the moment. But, I maintain the thought that having a great front seven, and a great OL are keys to great teams. This tandem of Simmons and Collins has the potential to be the best LB core we've seen in the desert in quite some time.

What do you guys hope to see us do on Day 2?
