The rookies were not the only show in town last weekend, as the Arizona Cardinals had their first mini-camp of the 2021 NFL offseason.
They had some veteran tryout players in as well and one of them made a good impression.
From the team:
The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has signed cornerback Tae Hayes and has released safety Chris Miller and wide receiver Darece Roberson. Hayes participated in the Cardinals mini-camp this past weekend on a tryout.
Hayes (5-9, 188) has played in six games in his NFL career and has 10 tackles, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery. He played in two games with the Dolphins and one game with the Vikings in 2020 while also spending time on each team’s practice squad. The 23-year old Hayes entered the NFL in 2019 with Jacksonville as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Appalachian State and played in three games as a rookie, appearing in one contest with the Jaguars before he was claimed by the Dolphins where he played in two games.
Hayes played mostly in the slot for the Jags and Vikings in his very brief NFL time in 2020, but in 2019 he played 90 snaps outside.
Welcome to the desert, Tae Hayes.
