Arizona Cardinals sign wide receiver Antoine Wesley to contract

NCAA Football: Oklahoma at Texas Tech Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals added another outside wide receiver on Friday as the team came to a one-year contract agreement with Antoine Wesley.

From the team:

The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has signed wide receiver Antoine Wesley to a one-year contract. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Wesley (6-4, 206) played collegiately at Texas Tech and entered the league with the Ravens as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2019. He spent his rookie season on Baltimore’s practice squad before missing last year on injured reserve. While at Texas Tech, the 23-year old Wesley played for then head coach Kliff Kingsbury and appeared in 29 games (12 starts). In 2018, he had 88 receptions for 1,410 yards and nine touchdowns and was named an All-American.

Wesley could be a potential practice squad guy who could be a fit as the A.J. Green replacement in 2022 and beyond if he can take the next steps.

Clearly that has not happened yet in his NFL career, but maybe his familiarity with Coach Kingsbury will be something that helps him.

Welcome to the desert, Antoine.
