There were some questions on why the Arizona Cardinals kept seven defensive linemen heading into the 2021 NFL season.
Now we know.
The team announced on Thursday they had finally activated Justin Pugh from the Covid-19 reserve list and in turn have placed Jordan Phillips on the injured reserve.
That is a bit of a kick in the pants with Phillips, as he has struggled to stay healthy after signing a big contract coming off a big, albeit outlier type of season with the Buffalo Bills.
This was always the concern, although it wasn’t injury history that was the concern, but rather worried he was a one-year wonder.
So, the Cardinals now have 52 players still on the active roster, waiting for Robert Alford to be the final player on the 53 coming off the Covid-19 list.
Phillips issue needs to be figured out, as he only played in nine games last season. He can’t be a part time player again this year.
Let’s hope it is a quick turnaround on the IR for Phillips.
