The first iteration of our new commenting experience is now live on SBNation.com and all 32 of our NFL sites. Last week, we gave you a heads up about some improvements that were coming soon, and today we’re happy to share the details of an update that went live on Aug. 11, 2020.

Prior to this update, we already made a couple of fixes. We’ve been continually updating the moderation settings to be more lenient, and we updated the fonts and colors to make comments easier to read. Tuesday’s update is more substantial. Here’s what it changes in the commenting experience.

You can now automatically show all GIFs/Tweets/YouTube videos. You can do this via the My Profile tab at the top of the comments, and going to Preferences.

“Read more of this conversation” now opens in a new tab. We know that doesn’t fix the problem completely – this is an intermediate step to let you keep your place in the conversation, while we build a better long-term solution.

We’ve made a few changes and will continue to improve the styling of the text, colors, and layout, to make it easier to read

The cursor now moves to the comment box automatically when you hit ‘Reply’

We know this doesn’t resolve all of your concerns, and we want to emphasize that more updates are coming. Among the issues we are working on is making new comments easier to identify, making it possible to read discussion threads without opening a new tab or losing your place, a Game Day Thread experience worthy of the name, and a way to to embed and display third-party images again. These will take a little more time, but we are actively working on it, and will have more news soon.

We will also bring comments back to FanPosts and return your old comments to your comment history, too.

Your feedback is essential for us to get this right. Many of you have asked if you could be included in testing new aspects of the system as we go forward. If you’d like to be a part of our comment system feedback group, please click here and fill out this form.

Coral will launch on Revenge of the Birds on Monday, Aug. 10.

We’ve got big news for the community here at Revenge of the Birds. We’re rolling out a new commenting system called Coral across all of our NFL communities over the next couple of weeks.

We debuted this system in five communities on Monday, Aug. 3: Arrowhead Pride, Behind the Steel Curtain, Blogging the Boys, Silver & Black Pride, and SBNation.com. You can visit any of those sites to get a feel for how the new comment system works and what the user interface and experience are like.

We know it will take some time to get used to it – and this isn’t the end of its development; all we ask is that you spend some time with Coral and give us your feedback so we can keep improving the system across all of our communities.

The rest of the NFL sites will be transitioned to Coral over the next couple of weeks. The full schedule is below:

Thursday August 6th

Cincy Jungle
Bolts from the Blue
Turf Show Times
Pats Pulpit
Big Blue View
Bleeding Green Nation
Niners Nation

We will be rolling Coral out across all of our team communities in the future, but there’s no timetable for that at the moment. The purpose of rolling this out in our NFL communities first is to test the system and gather feedback from site managers, contributors, moderators, and community members. We’ll be improving the way Coral works on our SB Nation communities based on your feedback, on those sites and on others as we roll them out. Your feedback and experience will help make it an even better platform over the next few months and years.

Why are we changing things up now? Our existing comment system hasn’t been upgraded in a decade and its age makes it difficult to maintain and update. It’s clunky on mobile devices, which many readers use to read and comment. The mobile experience in Coral is a major upgrade. We also have some fun tools in the works that will enhance the Game Thread experience in our communities, like automatically dropping in highlights of big plays and score updates as our communities discuss games. Coral offers expansive tools that will make our moderators’ lives so much easier — that’s an improvement that won’t be as obvious to commenters, but is essential for supporting the community’s health.

Coral is an improvement, and an investment in the future of our communities. It looks and feels very different from the current comment system, and like any new system, will take some time to get used to.

We’ve added the ability to change how you sort comments (Newest/Oldest/Most Recs/Most Replies), to download your comments, and to get email notifications around replies. You can ignore annoying voices, and embed tweets/YouTube videos just by pasting the URL instead of the long embed code. You can also search for GIFs using the GIF selector. We’ve also kept a lot of things you love, like Recs and background comment colors.

Some things haven’t made the cut, like avatars, signatures, and photo uploads. Yellow backgrounds for new comments aren’t currently available, nor are shortcuts to jump between comments – we’re working out the best ways to help you find the latest comments posted in Coral. You’ll also notice that your comments and comment history from the old system will disappear when we flip the switch to activate Coral on this site, and comments will not be available temporarily on FanPosts and FanShots. Don’t worry — those will be back in the future.

We have a frequently asked questions post available here that should give you more insight into why we’re making this change and what the new system entails. In the meantime, please feel free to share any questions or feedback in the comments below.

The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly taken care of a key piece of business. Adam Schefter is reporting the team signed defensive coordinator Todd Bowles to a three-year contract extension.

Adam Schefter is reporting the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. According to Schefter, the deal will make Bowles one of the five highest-paid assistant coaches in the NFL, and keep him under contract through 2017.

Schefter reported team president Michael Bidwill and general manager Steve Keim negotiated the deal in "recent days" and have officially cleared one important deal out of the way. The Cardinals defense lost several key contributors to free agency, injury and suspension, and yet they are back among the league's best, ranked No. 5 overall by Football Outsiders. The talent has risen, but Bowles deserves a lot of credit for this dynamic unit.

The Cardinals could not block Bowles from leaving for a head coaching job during the course of this contract, but as one of the highest paid assistants in the league, he might be more inclined to stick around until the perfect opportunity arrives.

Watching the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field is one of the most unique and memorable experiences a football fan can have.

The United States of America is littered with sports venues. Yet there are a select few stadiums that are held above others, timeless cathedrals to the great sports of this nation.

One of those palaces can be found in Green Bay, Wisc., and it houses the most celebrated professional football team in history, the Green Bay Packers.

Opened first as City Stadium and later rechristened in honor of the Packers' founding father, Lambeau Field stands at 1265 Lombardi Ave., a street named after the team's most legendary coach.

The stadium and the town are ever evolving. Lambeau, once a single-level bowl, now stretches to nearly twice its original height. The area around the stadium leans towards it, creating the feeling of an enclosed campus. The community doesn't just support the team, it is the team. Its fans, many of them shareholders, make Green Bay not only the home of the Packers, but the location of football mecca.

Lambeau Field has played host to innumerable great moments in NFL history, from the famed "Ice Bowl" to Al Harris' playoff-game winning Pick 6. Winter games played by a team forged by the snow.

A special atmosphere results when the Packers, their fans, and the cold winter conditions descend upon Lambeau Field. Almost like time travel, the fans look to the field rather than their phones, the players huddle together on the sidelines with eyes locked on the gridiron action. In that moment, nothing else matters. Football is always a point of pride in Green Bay, but on game days it's the singular focus of a nation of fans united under a Green and Gold flag.

When the Packers faced playoff elimination in Dec. 2010, the atmosphere of the town was tense. A season of close calls had built up, and the fans released it all against Green Bay's opponent. The snow had fallen throughout the week, and the fans came in during their spare time to clean off the field. All that matters in Green Bay is getting to game day.

Flash forward to Sunday. As Aaron Rodgers threw a strike to a breaking Jordy Nelson for the game's opening score, the entire city cried out at once with jubilation. Being in that crowd and taking part in the celebration is a once in a lifetime experience. The game ends, the crowd departs, and the team moves onto the next week, but the memory of the game stays with them all.

Lambeau Field is the architect of those memories, and the backdrop of those yet to be formed.

The Cardinals just added a wide receiver/kick returner in Ted Ginn Jr.

The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms with wide receiver/kick returner Ted Ginn Jr. The deal is for three years, though compensation has not yet been reported. The former first-round pick isn't likely to command top dollar by any means, however. Ginn has never lived up to his reputation on the offensive side of the ball.

He's been a healthy addition to the kick and punt return units of every team he's played for to this point, however. For his career, he has three punt and kickoff returns for touchdowns, and has been among the top returners in average yards per return for much of his career.

Ginn is wrapping up a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers in which he caught 36 passes for 556 yards and five touchdowns. He became Carolina's best deep threat, though he still struggled with his hands and route-running, something that has been a consistent issue throughout his career.

Ginn has 197 receptions for 2,604 yards and 11 touchdowns throughout his career. He's also got 1,741 punt return yards and 6,026 kick return yards to his credit. He should have an opportunity to find his way onto the field as a the third receiver in Arizona.

The Cardinals star linebacker isn't helping himself with his off-field conduct.

Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington isn't giving his new head coach Bruce Arians a lot of confidence in him.

This offseason, Washington got in trouble when he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the throat and threw her to the floor. He's due in court in Julyfor the ruling on his assault charges.

Washington is also suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the substance-abuse policy.

All of this has angered Arians, who went on SiriusXM radio and had the following to say about his star:

"It's all up to him. He's had double incidents, and as an organization, that throws a red flag out there. But I think Daryl is a very bright young man who understands what mistakes he's made. He's walking a very thin line in the league right now. Super-talented, but you have to adhere to the rules."

Washington is one of the more frustrating players in the NFL. For all of his talent, Washington hasn't been able to figure it out in his personal life, costing him the respect of many.

Last season, the former TCU standout registered 134 tackles and nine sacks, an incredible number for an inside linebacker. Washington is also one of the best coverage linebackers in the league, often assigned to cover a tight end or runner out of the backfield.

One of the possible free agent targets for the Arizona Cardinals is off the market.

The Miami Dolphins have re-signed quarterback Matt Moore, according to NFL.com's Jeff Darlington.

Moore, 28, was the backup to rookie Ryan Tannehill last season. Moore appeared in 10 games, but he didn't start any. He was 11-for-19 for 131 yards and a touchdown. He didn't throw an interception in his limited time on the field.

Details of the contract are unknown.

Before the Dolphins drafted Tannehill, Moore had a solid season for Miami in 2011. He started 12 games and led the team to a 6-6 record. He completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,497 yards and 16 touchdowns. He threw nine interceptions and was sacked 36 times.

Moore was an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State in 2007.

Moore was in a quarterback competition with Tannehill before the start of the 2012 season, but the team decided to hand the keys over to the rookie. Tannehill, who was the No. 8 selection in last year's draft, completed 58 percent of his passes for 3,294 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. He threw 13 interceptions.

With the Arizona Cardinals needing to address the quarterback position, Moore had been mentioned as a possible target and solution. With his return to Miami, Arizona now will have to look to other options.
