Jay Feely was one of the unsung heroes for the Arizona Cardinals as they defeated the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. Hear what he has to say about the penalty he received and his kick that won the game in overtime.

None of the Cardinals expected the team to go to overtime this many times over the past couple of seasons. Five of their last eight home games have gone past regulation, all of which the Cardinals have won. As Ken Whisenhunt said, at this point, it hardly seems lucky. This club just has a knack for winning in crunch time.

It would be much more difficult for the Cardinals to win in such close games if they didn't have the always reliable placekicker, Jay Feely. He is 7 for 7 on the season and has made three of those kicks from 40 yards or more.

On top of the big kicks, Feely becomes even more respectable for the hits he manages to lay out on the field. He is undoubtedly one of the most physical kickers in the NFL while making tackles on special teams.

Due to one of those hits, Feely was flagged for a personal foul in the form of unnecessary roughness on Sunday, but he didn't seem to agree with the penalty assessed to him.

Feely talked about the whole scenario, saying that if the special teams unit of the Dolphins hit the Cardinals' front line fast enough, Feely would "go hit him, so he can't block our guys".

"On a kickoff, I'm allowed to hit him in the back and I did that and the refs talked to me later and said 'it was a touchback, you shouldn't have done that'. I didn't know it was a touchback, I'm trying to get a block. I was just glad they didn't score. Anytime you do that you feel responsible for putting yourself in bad field position."

He later noted on Twitter that he had gone back and looked at the game tape and still completely disagreed with the call.

As for the field goal, Feely seemed to treat it as a bit of redemption for the penalty that he accrued earlier. He told Jess that he was entirely confident with the range of the last kick, as he had gone back to 61 yards out during warm-ups.

Feely, like the rest of the team, still feels that the team has plenty of work to do. "We're not where we want to be yet, but we're 4-0," he said confidently.

Isn't it nice to have a kicker with as much confidence and character as Jay Feely?

NFL power rankings for week 5 have been released and only one outlet has the Cardinals as a top 3 team.

Another week means another set of power rankings from around the web. And as per the usual, the Cardinals are being consistently underrated by media outlets from around the company. In fact, only one has the Cards as a top three team.

Our own SB Nation has the Cardinals coming in at sixth. Here is what they said:

6. Arizona Cardinals (LW: 9, 4-0): They keep winning but not of the Texans' blowout variety. You can see the flaws -- the lack of a run game and the leakiness along the offensive line (Cameron Wake anyone?). But they're going to remain up here until they start losing games.

The Associated Press did their power rankings and seem to mostly concur with SB Nation, placing the Cardinals at number five for their narrow victory over the Dolphins.

ESPN didn't move the Cardinals up any spots, as they remain at number five. Here was the comments associated with them from NFC West blogger Mike Sando:

They're the first NFL team since the 1941 Giants to go 4-0 without reaching 300 net yards in any game. (Sando)

The only place that gave the Cardinals considerable consideration was Pete Prisco from CBS Sports. He put Arizona in third, trailing only the Falcons and the Texans. Prisco did seem a bit hesitant as well, though:

At 4-0, do we still know if they are any good? They do have some late-game magic.

If it were my choice, the Cardinals would be at number three. Their offense is not as dynamic as Atlanta's or Houston's, but their defense seems to make up for that.

What do you think of these rankings? Where would you put the Cardinals? Tell us in the comments section.

Which Cardinals player received the moderator game ball for their performance in week four's victory over the Miami Dolphins?

4 - 0. That's right, the Arizona Cardinals are one of three still unbeaten teams, remaining that way with a nail-biting overtime victory over the visiting Miami Dolphins.

As overtime suggests, the game was very tight, with a few lead changes late in the competition. This also led to some very great plays, and stellar performances. Below are the moderator's choices for game ball of the week, and their reasons why.

Jesse Reynolds went with Andre Roberts, stating, "I'm going with Roberts. After a shaky start to his career he is looking like a legit WR in the NFL. I even put a claim on him in my fantasy league."

Alex Mann stayed with offense for his choice, selecting Kevin Kolb. "Kolb backed up bad plays with great plays and hung in there to help us win."

Randy Fields switched it up, going defense with his pick. "Daryl Washington. Without that forced fumble the game would have been lost. D-Wash makes the play, Big Vonnie Holliday makes the recovery and allows the Cardinals one last chance to win. Kevin Kolb and Andre Roberts both capitalized on the opportunity, but without D-Wash there is no last second drive."

Jess Root noted that in the Miami victory, many people stepped up. "In a game like Sunday's game, there are game balls to be handed out to many people. Dave Zastudil, Adrian Wilson, Kevin Kolb, Kerry Rhodes, Andre Roberts and Daryl Washington all could be good choices. But to go with an easy pick, my ball goes to Jay Feely for hitting yet another pressure kick to win the game."

Tyler Nickel went back to Andre Roberts with his choice, "I'll go with Andre Roberts as well. He made numerous clutch catches, moved the chains, and of course, scored touchdowns. He, unlike what I thought, is proving to be a true #2 wide receiver."

GreaZzy made his choice, going with the QB, but he did give a defensive player honorable mention, even though the player didn't suit up. "I'll give the QB some love this week. Kevin Kolb played like a quarterback who was there to win the game, rather then not lose it. Sure he made a few bonehead decisions, but in the end he made the plays we needed to win the game. Is this a recipe for consistent success? Probably not. But Kolb saved Mike Miller's butt, and won the game a la Kurt Warner. Honorable mention goes to Darnell Dockett. If you want an example of DD's impact on our defense, just watch this game."

Skii flipped it back to the defensive side. "I have to go with Patrick Peterson, he made some big plays, including that interception, that turned the game around. (Kolb, Fitz, Roberts, they all get shout outs)"

My choice, well I went with the offensive flow. "Andre Roberts. Six receptions for 118 yards and 2 TDs. He fought hard to keep drives alive, and put points on the board."

There you have it, straight from the minds' of the moderators. Their choices for game-ball player award. Until next week, go Cardinals!

Bobby Massie has had his fair share of ups and downs for the Cardinals at right tackle this season, but it was his game against the Dolphins that has everyone scratching their heads.

Ken Whisenhunt has never been the type of coach to want to start rookies right away. Unless there is an injury, rookie players typically ride the bench, playing in short spurts and on special situations. But with the injury to Levi Brown, Arizona has been forced to install an entirely new offensive line.

Journeyman D'Anthony Batiste was placed at left tackle, while rookie Bobby Massie, a fourth round pick of the Cardinals, is now playing on the right side. Batiste, for the most part, is what he is. He's not going to get much better. As for Massie, he has a tremendous amount of upside. With his size and frame, he has the chance to be an anchor at right tackle for the Cardinals for the next ten years.

So far, he is off to a bit of a rough start.

Pro Football Focus tracks the play of every player in the National Football League. Through the first four games, PFF claims that Massie has only had one decent start. It came against the New England Patriots in week 2.

This past week against the Dolphins was by far his worst game. He allowed five sacks, a knockdown and six hurries in just 57 pass protection snaps, according to PFF. Cameron Wake, one of the league's most premium pass rushers, recorded his first sack of the year. And then 3.5 more after that, of course.

Massie's overall grade as a pass protector so far is a -14.3, good for the 69th rated tackle in the league that has taken at least 25% of the snaps at the position. The bad news is, there are only 70 players on the list. The worst news? Batiste is number 70 at -16.8.

Massie also has a negative grade as a run blocker, but is this something we should expect to go on?

For his rookie season, I would say it is going to remain consistently subpar. That is why you typically don't see such a late round drafted tackle playing so early. Once again, he would probably be on the bench if it were not for the injury to Brown.

Massie needs stability and time along the offensive line. I still don't see the group as a cohesive unit, but that is something that takes time. His closest teammate along the line, Adam Snyder, is also new. Both of them are still figuring out how to fully adjust to the scheme that Russ Grimm is running.

That said, I don't think Massie has a worse day than he did on Sunday. Wake is graded as the best pass rusher int he league by PFF and, if Massie continues to struggle, the team will find more ways to assist him.

For now, it's all about the waiting game.

Arizona hadn't run the ball much, but one running play set up a big touchdown.

The Arizona Cardinals did not run the ball much against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but one running play in particular was a reason why Arizona was able to score their second touchdown of the game.

It was the fourth quarter and up tot hat point, the Cardinals had only run the ball eight times and had struggled in pass protection. At that point, they decided to go with more protection and go with two tight ends or two backs. On first down, the play was a two-yard gain on a running play by Ryan Williams. That seemed harmless enough, except what it did was put the thought into the minds of the defenders.

On second down, they had two tight ends and Kevin Kolb fakes the handoff to Williams. As you can see here, the defender who was to cover Rob Housler hesitated and looked into the backfield. That is all Kolb needed and he hit Housler in the seam for a 33-yard gain.

The same thing happened on the very next play. Kolb fakes the handoff to Williams to the right and both Karlos Dansby and Roberts' defender bite. Dansby leaves Jeff King and the cornerback hesitates just a split second looking back at Williams. Roberts cuts inside and gets behind him and scores on a 46-yard touchdown play. You will notice that King was going to be open for a moment as well if Roberts' man stays with him.

If Arizona does not go with the running play on first down, it is unlikely that the Dolphins bite on those two plays. After all, Arizona had run only eight times previously.

ESPN NFC West blogger Mike Sando shared how Kolb is having great success on play-action.

On Sunday, Kolb was 5/5 for 115 yards and two touchdowns on play fakes.

On the season, Kolb is 10/14 for 201 yards and four TDs on play-action.

So even though they are not having great success running the ball, they are running the ball just enough to give opposing defenses something to think about.

Additionally, the team is scheming for it.

"I think we've done a good job of scheming, tying it in with some of our tendencies run-wise, formation-wise, and I think that's what's helped us," coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday.

You wouldn't think that a two-yard run would be so important. In that moment, it was.

The Cardinals OT thriller was the biggest thing watched in the Phoenix area.

The Arizona Cardinals released their rating for last weekends game on Sunday, and it's one of their best regular season ratings. According to the report, 746,000 people around the nation watched the game from the start, with 460,000 of those viewers in the Phoenix area. That's 45% of the televisions in the Phoenix area. However yesterday they announced that their ratings were higher than what was initially reported. The number went from approximately 460,000 people to 557,000 thus bringing the total level from 45% to 53% of the televisions in Phoenix.

Looking through previous articles about the Cardinals TV ratings, they haven't been that bad. Through the dismal 2010 campaign the game ratings were never below 45%, at least that's the case for home games. Their away games had lower ratings, their lowest being against the Vikings when only 400,000 people tuned in to watch it. (Which I find surprising since it was one of our more exciting games that year). In 2011 during that 6 game skid rating dropped, but again were higher than 45% for home games.

A side note... the 53% makes the Cardinals game the best watched program in the media market for Phoenix during the prior week, and could possibly even beat out tomorrows Presidential debates that will take place.

How did Kevin Kolb perform against the Miami Dolphins? How about the play of the defense? Is this a trend that the fans of the Cardinals should be used to seeing? All of that on this week's Arizona Birdgang Podcast.

Another win, another podcast.

This time, Joe, McStats and I recorded the postgame Dolphins podcast for all fans to celebrate the Cardinals' victory over the Miami Dolphins! But was it really all that glorious?

Given how many passing yards the team gave up and how they allowed Brian Hartline to have a career day, should fans be nervous? Are the wheels falling off the bandwagon despite an Arizona victory? The guys discuss.

How about Kevin Kolb? At times he looked amazing and at others, he was just so-so. Is this something we should expect from him as the season progresses?

Finally, the defense looked mortal for the first time this season. What was it that the Dolphins were able to do that rattled Ray Horton's squad?

The players were excited after the win. What sis they say to their fans?

The Arizona Cardinals' win over the Miami Dolphins was crazy to watch for fans. It was every bit as exciting for the players. How do we know? Because after the game they talk about it on Twitter. The theme tends to stay the same -- they are glad to win, they are doing it as a team and they don't give up.
